Match report After the disappointment a our first loss in this competition to a strong Cavaliers side, this was not quite a return to normal business. Nabeel fell early to a sharply rising ball popping off an unpredictable surface and Misem departed shortly afterwards, run out on a direct hit. The innings was then held together by a sedate, but invaluable 45 from 57 from Waseem as wickets continued to fall despite Wanstead being granted several reprieves as OP dropped a number of important catches in the middle of the innings. A very welcome quick flurry of runs from Finlay (13 off 7) at the tail took Wanstead to a distinctly shaky 119 for 8 at the end.

This was a must win match so we needed something special in the field. Playing to our strength as a fielding side, the ring fielders came in a few yards to cut off easy singles that we could not afford. Jayden then chose to produce a stunning 4 over opening spell of 4 for 17, annihilating the OP top order. Brandon's supporting contribution of 1 for 12 off 4 overs could almost be overlooked but it confirms his position as our most economical seamer. Was this enough? With OP reeling on 29 for 5 after 7 overs, you might have thought so. However, the run rate required was still below 8 an over and a lengthy partnership between Aman Ali (38 from 42)and Eshun Kalley (24 from 28) took OP to 73 in the 17th over before the 6th wicket fell. Just as the OP number 8 started to attack the modest target remaining with the first 6 of the match, Finlay produced an outstanding 75 yard return from deep mid-on straight into Naail's gloves, running out Paresh Kalley by 3 yards or more. An outfield moment worthy of any team in the club. Despite a valiant effort by Sifth Ali (13 off 11), with 10 required off the last over, OP managed only 7, losing by 2 runs.

An excellent match that tested the team in all departments. There are lessons to be learned from the last 2 games but a lot of confidence can be taken from the excellent bowling and fielding performance where we, once again, held all but one of our catches.
