Match report Top of the table Harlow were the first return fixture of the season. They were top of the table and we have been languishing towards the relegation zone. So for both, this was an important fixture.
Wanstead won the toss and decided to have a bowl. It rained, 3 overs lost from the 52 and so the skipper decides to open the bowling with...Alan Lord and Alkesh Solanki, the spinners. Both keep the runrate down, Alkesh takes a wicket Alan keeps the score low with a coupe of maidens. First change sees Alan replaced with Abu Janjua who in a spell of 17 overs takes 4 wickets. One of the wickets must be in the thinking for catch of the century. Alan goes to catch a skyer, juggles the catch for about 10 mins. So because we are getting bored Brandon (Sons of juggler) pops up and takes the catch from Dad. The team roars with laughter and pick Senior Lord of the floor, where hes has collapsed with what one might refer to as a red face.
The skippers decides its time for a change of pace at one end and the juniors keep the Harlow attack under wraps and frustrated. Overs are ticking by and Harlow are not looking as formidable as their table position says. Another change sees the arrival of the No 2 batsman Saeed. 2.3 overs later we are heading to the pavilion for tea Saaed having taken 4 wickets. Harlow had only scraped passed the 200 by one run. Tea was looking very positive.
Wanstead's reply awesome but for the blip of Saeed being bowled around his legs for 0 (Luckily for Saeed he took 4 wickets). Top batting performances from Alkesh (61), Saghir (46) & Shivum (27) brought us to the Harlow total. Abu, Faheem and Zak took us over the line. Fabulous win from a well organised team. Well done 6XI, an excellently fought win.
