Match report Losing the toss, Wanstead were sent in to bat and started with an excellent opening stand of 88 between Waseem and Feroze. When Feroze was retired with the score on 98, Bilal and Jayden kept up a brisk strike rate before falling for 19 of 17 and 15 off 11 respectively. Naail, Misem and Faheem added another 20 and a generous 19 extras took the Wanstead total to 159 for 5. Perhaps 15-20 short of what we might have hoped for given the solid start but definitely a defendable total.

Colchester started well, easily matching Wanstead's run rate until the 6th over when the first wicket went down. Unfortunately, they never really regained momentum and despite brave efforts from the middle order, were 116 when the last wicket fell in the 20th over.

The Wanstead batting was sound, our bowling excellent with a rare 4 for 29 for Misem and our fielding, although generally good, wasn't quite up to our normal standards with a couple of run out opportunities squandered. However, overall this was a comfortable win and set the scene nicely for the final against old rivals Oakfield Parkonians.
