Match report After a quick start, the Wanstead innings faltered with the loss of Saurav, Joe and Hassan in overs 8 to 10. However, the total (and rate!) quickly picked up again with Jayden's 21 off 12, his first innings of the tournament. Backed up by a mature 58 off 30 from Bilal with support from the Lords, we reached 173 for 8, a respectable total but perhaps a little less than we would have liked given the rumours of Pakistan's strong batting.

And so it proved. After the early loss of Tanvir Shah, the next pair, Hamza Qayyum (82 off 58)and Talha Mumtaz (32 off 29) put on 115 for the second wicket by the start of the 16th over. With only 40 runs needed from 23 balls and with 8 wickets in hand, most watchers were backing a Pakistan victory. However, once again, this young team rallied under Hassan, Nabeel snatching 4 quick wickets, starting with the dangerous Hamza. Backed up by a wicket from Jack and three run outs, the Pakistan innings crumbled to 154 for 9 as Wanstead underlined their superiority in the field.

This was another excellent win against a strong and motivated side who still had a chance of winning the tournament. It is to their immense credit that they never stopped competing and will take home the lesson to never, ever stop trying. Very well done.
