Match report This match was the return grudge that wasn't meant to happen as the B team were relegated last season. However, with the amount of teams electing not to play indoor, the B team received a reprieve and play in the top division again.
This fixture was the opening one for the Wanstead teams. Both team sheets had players from the 1XI and the ECB Essex U19 T20 winning team, so decent enough to play in the top division. Anyway, as per usual, the sledging is vocal, except this time its from the crowd as neither team had arrived with a recognized keeper or gloves to keep with. So the B team, losing the toss have to field with one of their front line bowlers keeping with two pairs of gloves on.
So, up first for the A team is Feroze and Adnan, two 1XI players, both excellent players and run the total up to 71 in 4 and a bit overs courtesy of a number of extras and obviously hitting the walls and taking the runs. So the predicted total was looking to be rather high if this continued. Anyway Feroze hits his 25 and is retired which brings to the crease Izzy Dar who gets off the mark nicely with a 3 and he and Adnan rotate the strike and the run outs. Oops the A team collapse from 71 for 0 to 105 all out in 9.2 overs. Courtesy of some excellent bowling and fielding from Nabeel, Faheem, Finlay, Saurav,Waseem, Alan and unhelpful calling. I would also like to add a very special mention to Alan Lord, who stepped into a breach to play at the last minute after losing two players last week and taking the vital catch that gave the B team the glimpse of victory. Thanks Alan, and thanks for helping me not to play. Because if you hadn't played, the B team would have gotten me.
Right to the B teams innings...ooooh 106 to win. Now there is a distinct chance that this total can be reached. However, the B team had to see off some seriously quick bowling from Adam Lord, his brother Jack and Spinner Misem and Feroze, not forgetting some pace from Izzy as well. The openers Saurav and Waseem see off the bowling and set off after the 106 winning total. Wanstead B get there with ease, with only the loss of Waseem. Saurav retires and Nabeel and Finlay bring the team home to win in 9.2 overs. The B team played well for this win, accumulated the total and took their chances. Well done boys.
Wanstead showed its strength and depth again. Lets have a good indoor season.

(By the way Adam run out Jack in their innings, so the trip back to home would be rather strained. Dad (Alan) basking in the glory of winning and reminding the offspring of that fact)
