Match report Theydon Bois very kindly stepped forward with the offer of this match following the withdrawal of the scheduled opponents. On a chilly, windy morning, Naail and Ahmed put on 70 for the first 10 overs before being retired. The rest of the Wanstead team made steady contributions with the largest being a robust 16 from Joe. Naail came back in with 4 overs to go to take his personal total to an excellent 56. Otherwise, the innings was chiefly notable for the award of 5 penaly runs to Theydon Bois for Wanstead batters consistently running on the wicket, something that is not enforced enough but is particularly important when the wickets are as soft as they are at the moment.

The Theydon Bois openers started briskly and kept well up with the run rate until Chris Jones was bowled on 23 by Zak. His partner, Jack Tait, was retired on 32 and unfortunately, ushered in the start of a very long tail. None of the rest of the team made more than 2 with the chief executioners being Zak (3 for 12) Ahmed with a quite remarkable 5 for 9, with no less than FOUR of the wickets coming on consecutive balls! With his first 5 deliveries being wides or no balls, Ahmed looked to have a bad case of the yips - but once he found his rhythm and length, proved unplayable, his last wicket being the Theydon Bois opener, Jack tait, bowled first ball after coming back in.
