Match report The Wanstead U15 outdoor season has begun. First match up...Newham. As per usual, we lost the toss. Newham decides to bat. First over, Abdul takes a wicket with the last delivery of the over.Only 2 added to the total. Next over Zac only gives away 4 runs. Abdul comes in for his 2nd over, 2 more wickets and a maiden to boot. Newham, 3 down 9 runs on the boards. Zac gets a wicket in his 2nd over , so by the end of the 4th over Newham are 4 down having only scored 9 runs. Excellent bowling but also brilliant fielding from the rest of the team.

Bilal comes into the attack and bowls a very tidy spell, as do Louis, Vaihbav, James, Haider and new comer Ryan. In end end we restrict Newham to 86 for 5. A very gettable score.

The managers talk at the interval was short. Naail decided the batting line-up, so in he goes with Abdul. Our Captain plays a couple of sublime shots but gets caught going for the big one. First wicket down at 18. At the crease we have Abdul and Bilal who move the total along quite smoothly to within touching distance of the win, Abdul is caught, and then Nick comes in and bashes 7 and them...

For those readers who have been following this managers reports will have certainly read the report about a match v a certain Woodford Wells side not so long ago. In that report some excellent bowling and fielding brought about the most unlikely win this manager has witnessed and the parents that watched it as well. Anyway, back to today, Wanstead began haemorrhaging wickets, Bilal, for 20, Haider 0, Louis 2 James 0, Zac 1. Newhams' tails were up, a reverse wells as I call it was happening, that's until Vaibhav and Ryan took us past the Newham score...in the last over, did the wanstead parents breathe a big sigh of relief.

Well done Wanstead, thanks to Newham for making a friendly really exciting.
